India Vs Afghanistan 1st T20I: Due to Personal Reasons Virat Kohli will miss the first T20I against Afghanistan to be held at Mohali on 11 Jan, 2024.
India’s star batsman Virat Kohli will miss the first match of the upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan due to personal reasons, as confirmed by head coach Rahul Dravid.
Kohli, who last featured in a T20I for India at the 2022 T20 World Cup, will be available for the second and third matches of the series. Also, Ishan Kishan unavailable for selection due to a personal break.
Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal will open the batting for India. Jaiswal, a left-handed batsman, has impressed in recent matches and offers a good balance at the top of the order.

India’s KeyPlayers given Rest
Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja are the three key members of India’s Test team and will be rested ahead of the upcoming Test series against England.
The T20I series against Afganistan will be India’s last match, ahead of T20I World Cup to be held at USA & West Indies.
While in Afghanistan side, Rashid Khan will miss his 1st T20I against India, due to his ongoing back injury.
